Who We Are

About Us

MK Safety Net (MKSN) was born out of the efforts of the Mamou Committee in 1999 after a group of alumni of the Christian & Missionary Alliance school in Mamou, West Africa had tried for 12 years to get the C&MA leadership to address the issues of abuse which took place at the boarding school. Through those efforts, the frustration and revitalization they experience at the hands of church leaders, they saw the need for a forum where former MKs, TCKs and their families could come to tell their stories, network with other who have had similar experiences and get guidance regarding the best way to bring their concerns to the church authorities who are responsible for addressing what happened under their sponsorship. In 2005 the Board of Directors was formed, the organization was registered as a not-for-profit organization with the goal of supporting the healing of those who have been hurt in evangelical mission schools and to be a voice for change and justice within the churches that sponsor and support boarding schools that house MKs and TCKs.

Through the establishment and maintenance of our web site we reach out to those who need our support and those who can benefit from the knowledge and insight we have gained over many years dealing with individuals and organizations attempting to address issues of abuse in boarding schools. Our commitment is to maintain the site as a place where any MK, TCKs and/or family member can come to get information and contribute to the on-going conversation without fear of judgment. We welcome all points of view and will not edit or censor any contribution that is submitted in good faith and is not damaging to another. We hope that the information we have gathered, created and posted on the site will contribute to any church organization that is willing to make a sincere effort or correct wrongs of the past and ensure the current safety of children under their care.

It is our sincere hope that you will find the site helpful and that you will contact any member of our Board of Directors with questions or information.
